Seth's mental speech is sharp and sinuous. A hiss of steam, a bite of winter chill. Bitter and cold, like sinking one's teeth into a sprig of mint. It is not a pleasant experience because Seth makes no attempt to make it so. When they speak, it is swift and to the point, a sudden blast of chill against the mind, there and gone again as if Seth cannot stand to prolong the contact.
And perhaps that is not far from the truth. Seth makes their opinions known, but does not outright seek conversation with others. In truth, they seem repulsed by any sort of platonic intimacy between themselves and their siblings, and speak quickly so that the connection may fall to silence that much sooner. They are content in solitude and are convinced they need no others.
This self-isolation has had an impact on their speech patterns and overall projection. Seth is not a small presence - they are fairly "massive" in a way a mountain is to a pebble. They do not compromise in mental space, and those spoken to may feel that Seth expands their mindvoice to take up as much room as possible - not unlike a Terran feline fluffing up to appear more of a threat than it truly is.
Yet, Seth is also insecure. Their voice and present may be sharp and cold, but there is a lingering desire to prove themselves that cannot be hidden even by all the pompous derision they put off. They may seem an egotistical prat (and they are), but at the same time if one looks closely they may see the jealousy that simmers just below the surface.
For all the Flamboyant Facets Foretell Fated Fortunes (Opal) egg is pretty and attractive to look at, the inhabitant within seems almost the exact opposite of the shell it dwells in.
The Opal egg is spirited - independent, even. While before it hoarded the attention of its clutchmother in a fit of jealousy, it now seeks to set itself apart not just from its siblings, but Gwillanth as well. It does not interact with the others, and it certainly does not play nice - at most the egg can only deliver an equivalent of a paw swipe across the mental mindscape it shares with its brethren. There is no tolerance to be had for its clutch siblings, and the Opal egg has begun to cement itself quite firmly as a bully.
At least, that is the first impression given to those around it. In truth, there is a deep insecurity to the Opal egg. It strives for improvement, to be unique and special, and cannot stand that it is not singular among its peers. It compares itself to those around it often, and sees flaws in everything and everyone. An overachiever, through and through, this egg is not satisfied with bare minimum. It fights, not out of pure malice, but to keep itself ahead.
This does not excuse it, and the Opal egg offers no apology. It is disdainful, unrepentantly so, and immensely proud. To those around it, the egg is constantly alert, constantly judging them in that silent, probing way. It is exceedingly picky about any company, be it clutchmate or otherwise.
For those people who come to the Sands, many report headaches when near this egg. In fact, only a handful can be close without some form of mental pressure making itself known. It has certainly made itself aware as an unapproachable, unpleasant target.
The Flamboyant Facets Foretell Fated Fortunes (Opal) egg is a lovely egg to behold. With a splash of hues reminiscent of sandy browns and beachy blues, it does not truly have any prominent color to it. This is not helped by the fact that when light touches the shell, small bits of iridescent facets can be seen glittering here or there in random patterns. Thus, it is not hard to see how the egg got its name - it seems almost like an open geode brimming with calcite and opaline crystals.
However, in spite of its welcoming appearance, the shell itself is not smooth, nor is it uniform. In the process of hardening, it has gained minute bumps along the surface - not unlike a Terran chicken egg. These little bumps are hard to notice from afar, as they do nothing to scatter the otherwise opaline iridescence on the shell. In truth, it is only when a hand lays on the egg will the minuscule bumps be noticeable. Furthermore, when still soft and leathery in texture, it formed a dent near the top. The dent did not correct itself upon hardening, and now remains a perpetual divot in the shell, the bowl-like shape approximately hand-length near the very top. Those touching the shell must be careful of this one area, for it is far more brittle than the rest of the egg.
Size-wise, it is fairly large. Not so large as to solely draw those wishing for a bronze or brown, but instead a medium-large fair that attracts many potential hopefuls. The egg is oblong in shape, almost capsule-like, and easily reaches the chest of some of the shorter candidates. It is uniform in width and if not for the divot at the top, would look rather picturesque and handsome.
This egg has not been idle, though. Movement from the growing dragon within has seen it twist and turn about the sand often. The sand has been disturbed often enough that even footprints - dragon or otherwise - do not last often. Sometimes the egg buries itself deeper, other times it moves just a fraction away from the rest of its clutch siblings. More than once it has had to be turned back into proper position, as if it were an errant babe ready to test their legs and experience everything new the world had to offer.
As of the earthquake, the top of the egg's shell has suffered a minute crack, roughly one handspan in length along the most fragile part of the dent. The split in the shell was not so deep as to break the inner membrane, and thus far no egg fluids have leaked out. Aside from the panic that overtook the dragonet at the time of the injury, the fissure has otherwise had no negative impact on the occupant within.
