’H-hey! Stop!’

The trampling of sands and sudden brush of claw, snout, tongue, and fur to their shell drew Seth from that quiet thoughplace that might have been a dream. The unexpected arrival of these intruders drew immediate concern and anxiety, concern this would be another incident similar to the groundshake.

But no, these were just many small things – canines, those around supplied. And even though they approached and scratched and jumped - ’Leave me alone! Quit it!’ - that they quickly wore themselves out got Seth to silence themselves.

One of the group had found their egg, had dug into the sands deep enough to cause the egg to list to the side. Not enough to topple, just move further towards the canine pup. This seemed to be the creature’s intention, for they then settled in the wallow, back to the shell, and curled up with a loud yawn.

Seth considered this intruder, ignore of Mother and Hers and the other one. They felt the brush of fuzz, the rise and fall with each breath, and the rapid pulse of a heartbeat. And they scoffed.

’Fine. You can stay. For now. But keep your claws to yourself!’
