Personality
Polaris is a world unto themselves. They are the pulsing heart at the centre of their own universe.

Does that make them selfish? Quite possibly. But Polaris is not selfish as a detriment to others, more so they are selfish in their own joy at living and loving their own life. They focus on how they experience the world around themselves, how they can explore it, learn from it, contribute to it. They aren't concerned about being first or the best, they have no social ambitions. Of course they have no intentions of harm to anyone along the way, though in their pursuit of "new" they may forget to help others as often as they should. They are selfish, but not with malice.

Polaris is in love with discovery. They want to see and experience as much of the world as they can. They have a great passion for everything new. They hold no prejudices and are willing to throw themselves into every endeavour. Though this is a very wonderful way to live in theory, they haven't perhaps given enough thought to how it can effect daily life. It's one thing to speak enthusiastically with someone about a favourite topic, it's another to drop that conversation the moment something more interesting comes along. Polaris will never really have the social skills they need to progress in any kind of hierarchal system. They will need help with that, and more, they'll need to realise they need help because they will be hopelessly oblivious.

In their egg Polaris feels frustrated. Their world is too small and cramped. They ache for open skies, endless forests, cast oceans. The outside world could never be big enough. This confinement gives their voice a little edge sometimes. They are tensed, a coiled tunnelsnake waiting to spring. Their manner may be more curt now than when they finally hatch and are free to properly breathe. From the moment they became self aware they have been itching to escape. Mother is a smothering presence. The shell encasing them is a prison.
Polaris values freedom above all else.

Though Polaris knows they will thrive in the open air and love exploring the world, they have found they also quite enjoy getting to know themselves. As one can do little else inside an egg, introspection became an interesting distraction for them. Very early on they began to correct their own behaviour after some initial reactions (like when they realised Mother wasn't just something to escape from, She had her own talents they could learn from). Emotions and reactions to different situations have been a lot to take on and Polaris has done their best not to feel completely overwhelmed by it all. They take time to feel their feelings and discover why they are feeling that way. They acknowledge their faults and try to be better.
Polaris knows now that growth is just as important as exploration.

Polaris is only just beginning their journey and will have many turns to truly become themselves.
This is just their creation.

Polaris unknowingly sat quite near the edge of Gwillanth's clutch. It wasn't the furthest away perhaps, but not far off. It had no neighbours leaning against it nor was it grouped in any particular cluster of eggs. It was nestled in a comfortable divot surrounded by little sand peaks. Occassionally Gwillanth would disrupt the peaks while she moved each egg, but the peaks would reform after such actions and Polaris would be settled again.

Polaris was one of the smaller eggs of this clutch and many had already resigned it to holding a green. Due to this and it's slightly unusual shape, it wasn't one of the popular eggs. It was longer and thinner than an egg ought to be and looked almost like Gwillanth had clenched involuntarily while laying it, giving it a very pinched appearance. It wasn't well balanced and usually leaned or toppled over to lie flat against one of peaks around it. Even with Gwillanth's diligent care, this meant it was more often than not covered in a light layer of sand and grit that obscured it's pattern.

If anyone managed to glimpse the shell beneath the sand, they might be intrigued by it.

Polaris looked like a bruised sky.
It's base was of blues; prussian, steel and perhaps hints of teal. It was struck down one side with a bolt of lightning leading one to speculate if this egg contained a storm. The edges were mottled shades of browns, purples and greens, like bruises at varying stages of healing. But atop the egg, at it's very tip, there was a little spark of light. It gleamed, alone in the heavy darkness.

Was Polaris akin to a night sky filled with storm clouds? Or maybe a glimpse of a far off galaxy? Perhaps it was reflective of the battles yet to come or the deep soul wounds the inhabitant carried from the memories of its ancestors?

But none of this would be seen or pondered unless one took the time to approach the lonely egg and take a moment to uncover it.
