2024-07-23 - To survive this loneliness inside

With nothing else to keep their mind occupied, Auth half listened to the complaints and demands the people called "holders" brought to Mother. Holders seemed to have a lot of problems they couldn't manage to figure out themselves, which was kind of ridiculous. Why did they need to bother Mother and Hers with them? Mother was in charge of the weyr, not the holds, why was she always so wrapped up in their politics?

Auth shook themselves.

Politics. Tch.

They despised all of this nonsense. Mind games, manipulation... and even on a good day it seemed to be just about stress! They had no intention of partaking in any of it once they hatched. Even fighting thread would be better than all this waste of time! At least that was straightforward.

Auth sighed.

They were getting so tired of being stuck in this egg. The longer they stayed in here and the more they heard of the world outside, the more complicated everything seemed. And with such idleness they had even started to worry about finding the right person to share their lives with. How on Pern were they going to find someone who didn't blindly follow orders or want to tangle themselves up in politics? Was there a person out there who would be a good match for them at all? Would they lose themselves to whatever their partner wanted?

"Next time, we shall see how you deal without the fire we so kindly lend you in Threadfall."

Auth snickered to themselves. Well if Mother still had her bite after bonding with Hers, there was definitely still hope!

Determined to keep that in mind, Auth tried to reorder their thoughts more positively.
They would be proactive.
They could do this.
