6 - Virtues: Prudence

TW: Flightlust

You know I don’t mean anything unkind by it, Pertemarth said.

Gwillanth, who was currently formed into a lovely curl for him to recline on, replied, Of course not. I’ve never been bothered if you Chase anyone else, nor anything a little less public.

Mmm, he said, Especially with all this doom and gloom. I just want to put it out of my mind for a few hours, go and -- how would Mi’dar put it? -- take a roll in the hay. He laid his head on Gwillanth’s shoulder.

Then go on! You know you’ll find a dozen dragons out there with the same itch if only you ask. And you could always get a little attention with a quick Rise, she suggested.

Oho, I could... but Rising’s never been my thing. I’m an appreciator at heart, he said.

Gwillanth tilted her head towards him, at once teasing him for his half-truths as well as giving him something to appreciate.

Pertemarth chuckled. You sure you won’t be jealous?

I never have been, love, you ask me that every turn whenever your desire outstrips my tolerance or ability, Gwillanth reminded him.

This is true, but it seems only polite to keep asking.

That it is, she said, laying her head back down to rest. I’d rather not do anything with the young ones still close to mind... and with my rear still on the mend... Gwill added.

Perte giggled softly, nuzzling his mate’s neck. Of course, dear. It’s been a hard few months for us all.

And I respect that your way of dealing with it is to get an itch under your tail, she replied, humming softly.

Well, to be fair, I have less to worry about. Let’s see who needs the most scratching once your eggs hatch!

The Virtues series is the last chance for your dragonet to reflect on themself as an unbonded individual, and the last chance to sort out what they would like in a bond. When Hatching and Impression come, what went before will fade into dream. What does the virtue on display mean to your dragonet? How important is it in their choice of rider? Is this lesson one that will stick with them, or does it seem of no consequence?
