TW: Flightlust
Aha! This way! she called, narrow green wings nearly clipping the butte’s sides as she swiveled alarmingly mid-air, heart pumping and muscles singing with the effort. The open air of the Weyrbowl called to her now and she turned for it, buzzing the tents below and winking at the gold who sat vigilant nearby them. Gwillanth’s eyes rolled with a cheerful lime color as she watched the Flight go by, head turning as each dragon zipped by.
The leader was a green who cackled with the fun of it, already planning her next acrobatic maneuver before the previous one had even ended. She egged on her chasers but she wished it was more of a private affair. It would be so nice to Fly with just one or two of her trusted friends, but privacy was hard to get in the Weyr.
The next dragon was a bronze, right on her tailfork by simple measure of size and speed. He didn’t seem to be trying very hard: his internal thoughts were almost bored. Clearly he was just doing this for appearance’s sake, to look a virile bronze, but he wished he could just be napping.
Over his shoulder and gaining fast was a slip of a blue, crowing out to the leader whenever she executed a perfect maneuver. She -- the blue -- was great friends with the leader, and she relished the opportunity to Chase her and match their talents against one another. The catch was not her goal, only the journey.
A few more dragons passed by, intent on the Flight, a whirl of color.
And next, lagging a bit, a green. There was an intense cast to her mind, determination and desire wrapped up in one another. She wanted to catch the leader with a fearsome, spine-tingling need: oh, how she’d watched her fellow green in the other wing and wished she had time to talk, to know her better. This was her chance to break the ice and win her heart!
And last, a blue already somewhat slow and fluttery in his Chase. Why, his mind had already turned to complimenting the other Chasers and -- yes, that was such an impressive loop, but his interest in following the flight-leader was waning -- he bugled enticingly, Come and Chase me if you’re not fancying your luck with her!
