3 - And Now, the Weather

For the first time, you are experiencing Weather. The flight to your new resting place was uncomfortably cold, but the feeling of air -- wind! cold and blue -- rushing over your shell... and the diaphanous, incandescent heat and light of the daytime, so much light of the newly-named sun Rukbat that warmed you nearly as much as the hot sands had. The humans, minds too busy and fearful to feel so attractive as before, put up tents over you but in the day their walls were hoisted up so the air would not be so stifling inside.

The warming sunlight would fade, and the humans would close the tents and bring out heavy things and fill them, do something, and they would blaze into heat. You could feel the outside become cold, feel Mother outside become quite chill. It would rush in sometimes if Shayled or another came to check on you. And something else -- a different light, liquid and silver, moonslight -- Belior and Timor shining down, big sister and little brother.

And then once, a great wind came up. The sunlight went away. The tents were closed, and they creaked against that wind, and the wind became a hiss, the occasional intrepid zephyr wriggling through the tent folds and pinging a grain of sand against your shell. That was a strange day indeed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How does the feeling of sunlight compare to the feeling of heat from the Sands? Which do you prefer? How do you react to the night, the cold, and the dark? What about the light, which you are just now barely able to sense through your egg's shell? Do you prefer the night or the day? Moonslight or sunlight? Does the energetic sandstorm scare you, thrill you, bore you? Why?
