Forum, Discord, Etc. RPers

Hi! Please don't panic! This is going to be great, it's not that much to learn, I promise!

If you're familiar with jcink's subaccount system, that's how AresMUSH works – your main/ooc account is stored in AresCentral, and your subaccounts live on different servers/games. Thankfully you won't need to worry about that, you only have one character to worry about: your egg claim!

Follow the instructions on the egg claims page. When the page shows you a password, copy it and look up to the top right to log in. The username is your egg's number and the password was just created for you. The first thing you should do is change your password by using the two gears icon in the same place you logged in.

After you have done so, follow the instructions on the mail that was sent to you. (View it by clicking the little eye icon!) Once that's done you have a couple options.

I suggest checking out the MUSH 101 tutorial written by the coder of this beautiful website and game engine we're using. A lot of it will not apply to our game since Egg Game utilizes prompts, not free-for-all RP, but it will introduce you to some terminology.

For instance, instead of "threads" we use "scenes" that get posted into "logs" when they're finished. These scenes take place in the context of a Prompt. You can practice starting a scene in one of the first week Prompts and seeing what that looks like – a lot of the options are self-explanatory! Starting the scene will take you to a text box where you can write to your heart's content. Once you're done, use the dropdown at the bottom to "stop scene" and then you can go to Unshared Scenes to post the log for other people to see!

If you're feeling spicy, I'd recommend downloading a MUSH client and poking around on the game itself (what you're using now is the web portal!). You can also use the Web Client!

MUSHers

Hi! First of all, welcome!

This game is best enjoyed on the web portal, at least in the initial stage of picking your egg. And yes, this is a roster game, albeit a bit of an odd one! Also, I did rename locations/rooms to Prompts, just roll with it.

Please keep in mind that RP is not open immediately from game start; the focus is on responding to prompts and that focus will remain consistent even when RP is open. I anticipate that RP will be primarily solicited through Discord and Channels rather than arising by grid interactions – but please do hang on the grid if you can!

You must post a log for a prompt fill/RP to count as activity in that prompt, but I don't mind if you RP in rooms or in a scene – just maintain decorum and post your log.
