4 - The True

To 'complete' this Event, please respond to at least one toucher from each touching group: the Leaders, the Led, the Believers, and the True; and complete the Alternate Response prompt.

The Tower:

17 / f

Everything had gone to shit. The Tower wasn’t going to try to hide that in their mind, put on a brave face for the Touching. No, things were bad. She’d been a proud young woman before, but the quake had broken her: that’s not to say she didn’t have any hope, but she had been sent to a new low. The Tower felt like everything in her life had been shaken up and she didn’t know how to deal with it other than put one foot in front of the other. All the feared now was the possibility that it could get worse...

Judgement:

22 / m

A trinity of thoughts swirled in Judgment’s mind as he moved from one egg to the next in the clutch, looking down at them and gently touching their hard, crackled shells. First, reflection on what had brought him (and them) here. Second, the awakening they were surely now experiencing and that Judgement might soon be privy to. And third, the reckoning fast approaching them... Doubt pervaded Judgment’s uninspected thoughts, a drop of sweat in the axe-man’s eyes before the killing blow.

Justice:

23 / f

Something had deeply unsettled Justice. Her thoughts were strong and clear-cut: she thought of action and result, the flight that produced the clutch that would hatch the new generation to feed the wings... But Justice feared thinking about the quake. Why? Even if she inspected her memories and consulted the knowledge of her peers, she knew she could never find a reason why for it. The truth was that sometimes cruelty was causeless, and her heart despaired of accepting it.

Temperance:

19 / m

He had to admit the eggs were worth the songs and praises and hopeful exultations he’d heard of them. Temperance, a new candidate, approached cautiously and patiently, trying to find each egg’s individuality in the muddle. All of this doom and gloom had thrown the Weyr out of balance, but he thought perhaps the pressure put on these eggs to lift them out of it was too much. They needed to draw the meaning from the tragedy before letting a new joy bandage it away from supervision, where it might fester...

Strength:

24 / m

Now it was time to focus. Strength put aside his reservations -- or at least, he tried, but his insecurities rode him like mud on his boots -- and went to meet the eggs. He didn’t try to trick the eggs as he went between them, he didn’t need to. Strength put his bandaged hand against the eggshells as if they could tell the difference, proud of the scars he’d soon have from helping the rescue efforts. He loved them, each and every one, but if they didn’t choose him, that was alright. Strength could soldier on solo.

The Chariot:

24 / m

The Chariot had an attractively direct mind, all power, all control, no confusing layers or misdirections. He knew what he was here for and he knew what he could offer any dragonet who wanted him. There was the seductive promise of the Chariot’s intense will to take for their own, his exquisite self-control, his impressively direct aims. But when he put skin to shell there was an undercurrent... The Chariot was an indomitable force, and he’d beat down any opposition in his way.
