Zeveren is not a Candidate. A Harper's apprentice, his training has been of songs and stories, music and words, instruments and oration. Flying and flaming are deeds taught of, not undertaken.
And yet...
Honor those the dragons heed.
As the words of the Duty Song flit through his mind, the rest is overtaken by a rainbow of sensations predominated by blue. Lips quirking upwards, Z'ren kneels with his new bondmate. Well, blue is for Harpers.
This is not the path he expected, but as minds and melodies meld, Z'ren realizes, perhaps, this is precisely where he is meant to be.
