Had it not been for the subtle movement caused by a hand touching her shell, Xlyoth might have missed The Moon entirely. He was there to listen, but not be heard.

There was very little to hear in his thoughts, except fear. Fear of what, though? Xlyoth was confused. Hey, Listen. Xlyoth called to him. Come out and shine. Let us see you. Shine bright, so that we can find you, know you, be dazzled by your radiance.

Xlyoth wasn’t sure that he’d heard, and so she pulled on his attention as much as she could. Hey. Stay. You want to know us? We want to know you. I want to help you!

The Moon slipped away, like a cloud covering his countenance, and was gone from Xlyoth’s reach.
