The voice of a dragon, even one so full of vitriol, was a welcome change from the many human minds that, Myrcelleth had found, were so much easier to breach, to bite and tear into. This Ertineth was still wanting, but it was not the same wanting as humans had, Myrcelleth thought. It was obvious! Ertineth wanted to be like Mother, wanted to be able to stand out, to perform.

This was very different to wanting the eggs just for… being there, to provide hope, to achieve some goals. This was different. This was understandable. This was something Myrcelleth understood well. They were right! Ertineth was living proof that the stupid system of colours was exactly that, stupid. Why not let Ertineth have eggs, have peace and quiet, express however Ertineth wanted. This was all so simple, so silly to one. Why have all of these expectations of differing colours, why not let them decide what they are best at? Myrcelleth understood so very deeply, he ignored the comment about Mother’s ‘rotten mate’, they understood that anger brought out the worst in people. Ertineth probably didn’t mean it!

This was why Myrcelleth had chosen to be green but- would Ertineth not have chosen too? Would Ertineth not simply… be a gold if Ertineth wanted it so? That seemed so easy. Maybe Ertineth did not realise that a gold is what he would prefer? Is that not a choice Myrcelleth will have either?
