The Lovers met Xlyoth separately, each touching her shell in turn, murmuring words that she wasn’t listening to as much as she listened to their minds and their fears.

It was clear to her that they were as much a pair as Mother and Pertemarth, and must not be separated, lest one pine for the other. Jealousy could grow in the wound of that separation faster than Threads could devour them.

She tried to give them hope, that their dragons would understand and would not pull them apart. They loved so strongly, and Sigil was a touch envious. She wanted the best for them, but she was not it. She was one, and she did not have a bond with one of the Others strong enough to stand against or with these two.
