Jinth had taken little notice of the herder passing by, since he was resting for a bit. It was only when the sudden influx of new minds surrounded the clutch that he woke from his daze to see.

These kinds were unlike any he had seen before. They were not as bright and complex as dragon and human minds were, but they still had independent thoughts in them that he could relate to. Curiosity about what strange (to them) things eggs were, that needed to be throughly investigated from top to bottom. Fear of the strange big thing that was mother, inspiring a strong need to find a safe place to hide in. A need to stick together for companionship and a need for their mother’s presence to feel safe again.

As the pups settled down among the eggs to rest a bit, Jinth took the opportunity to read their minds more. Their thoughts were really quite simple, weren’t they? No real need for anything akin to deception in them, unless it was to gain possession of a big of food or a bone to gnaw on. Refreshing, in its way. He was going to have to study these creatures more the next time he ran into them. And see if there were other similar minds out there to study too.
