She didn’t quite understand what the point of this music was. To join in like Gwillanth? To just sit there and listen? Only half-curious, Xijemynth tilted closer in her egg, only to quickly find that she couldn’t quite ignore it like she had been intending to. The sound was proving to be infectious, especially the quick drumbeat. It reminded her of her heart, how it raced when she pretended to stalk prey, or practiced darting under and around ancient logs of driftwood. This was something humans did for fun? And there was more of it? Huh – it did make an odd kind of sense, Xijemynth supposed. Humans couldn’t fly like dragons could, and apparently they couldn’t share thoughts among each other either. They had to do something in order to communicate and entertain one other, at least they had figured out how to work with things that produced pleasant sounds.
