2024-07-15 - 7.1.1- The Emperor

Diath has only over time learned what this yearning that's been plaguing her since she was conscious enough to feel it is. From listening to the minds around her, from chatter between Mother and Shayled. Dragons have humans, must have humans, and they are Forever.

She doesn't know what a 'forever' is, but the way it's spoken it must be more than even a Turn, spent together, sharing their lives. It sounds wonderful to her.

It's why she's confused at the Emperor.

He thinks more of things his father promised than of the eggs. Than even really of himself. He will be bonded to bronze, like it makes him better, like it's a forgone conclusion. And while still she greets him with care she offers everyone, all she can think of is the responsibility to lead. To teach. These are big things, Diath knows, and wonders

"Why do you want that forever?"

The barest hint of light breaks on the static hull of the Emperor's mind before he moves away, and Diath let's herself reach for only a moment after.

She doesn't think they would be a match.
