2024-07-14 - Two is Here and There

Sigil was startled by something - a loud sound, or one of their clutchmates ‘shouting’ - and flinched hard enough to encounter the wall of their confines. They gave a surprised mental squawk of their own, recoiling in momentary horror that there was something out there. As the adrenaline from the unexpected contact faded, Sigil felt the soft ache in their limbs from having been tensed up and held that way.

It was a curious sensation. Had they had limbs all along? How had they not noticed this? They tentatively stretched one [left, fore] out until it would go no further, then another. They found the barrier again. And again. They were surrounded. There was nothing to find except the barrier, except they knew that mother was on the other side of it. That the others were out there, too, not in here. Only Sigil was in here.

As Mother moved around, Sigil reached physically for them, tiny fingers and toes splayed in supplication. They did not like being apart from the others, from Mother.
