There are many candidates drawn to the Layers of Time in a Canyon Wall Egg, since it is wiggling so fiercely, like it's trying to hatch already. The sand has been piled high around it, at least at the start of the Touching, to the point where only the top of the dented shell is visible - clearly this was done in order to keep it from rolling right out of its wallow in the sand and causing chaos.

To the High Priestess
You and Kanyoth are a lot alike. Kanyoth too, has a lot of things they would like to give the world a piece of their mind about. Kanyoth's problem is that they're stuck in this egg that they've been trying to hatch out of for weeks now. You don't have that problem. You're free to do whatever you want. What's holding you back?
To the Empress
You there. Yes, you're the one who just told that candidate not to help her. You're one of the ones the candidates have been going to, asking if they should help Kanyoth, and you keep telling them not to. Fuck you. How dare you? Oh, Kanyoth's sorry, have you ever been in an egg? Did you ever hatch? No? Then how can you possibly know when she should hatch? Do you know how awful it is to be stuck in here with this grossness? Do you know how awful it is to be COMPLETELY FUCKING HELPLESS??? Do you know how awful it is to be conscious but not able to go anywhere or do anything? You can't even imagine it! Kanyoth can tell! So how dare you tell her that she can't hatch right now? How dare you insist that she continue to be helpless after the earthquake that killed some of the other members of the clutch? Her siblings! What, are you walking away crying? Kanyoth can't even walk anywhere! KANYOTH CAN'T EVEN WALK ANYWHERE!
To the Emperor
Well, maybe you are meant for a bronze, you're certainly as self-centered and egotistical Kanyoth's bronze father Yuakajth. Most of the clutch dislikes or outright hates him. Kanyoth is in the latter group. Yuakajth thinks being a father is easy, never thinking of his children as their own individuals, never grieving the losses of Pycglioth, Rocranth, and Ghrebieth. Maybe Rocranth would have been a bronze, if he'd lived. He definitely had a brassy, brazen aura about him, and was suitably loud and proud about himself. You and Yuakajth would've been happy about that, huh? It was Pertemarth who took him between. Gwillanth's blue mate Pertemarth, a more fatherly figure to this clutch than Yuakajth could ever hope to be. To be fair, though, Kanyoth didn't think Yuakajth was a liar. He just has some deeply skewed and incorrect beliefs about the world. Maybe your father is the same. He might not be lying to you, but that doesn't mean he's right.
To the Hierophant
Oh, a blossom would be perfect! To symbolize new life after the earthquake! Kanyoth would love that! It would be a bit of a pity that Kanyoth would miss that if he managed to hatch right now, but he'd rather be finally free than wait to see your blossom, sorry. Though on the subject of what you're going to wear on the scheduled hatching day - you all wear white robes? Why? And what's this about a first dragon hatching? There was a time when there were humans but not dragons? How did dragons come to be, then? Are dragons descended from whers? Please tell him dragons are descended from whers, whers are awesome.
To the Magician
And last but not least - because this whole Touching business has to end at some point, right? - there's you. Oh, how you want. How you think wanting is so easy. How you believe that if you want strongly enough, it will happen. You know what Kanyoth wants? Kanyoth wants their siblings Pycglioth, Rocranth, and Ghrebieth to be alive. Do you think that if Kanyoth simply wants hard enough, their siblings' eggs will pop back out of between, with their occupants hearty and hale and whole? Somehow Kanyoth isn't under the impression that it works like that, though it would be lovely if it did. Alternatively, do you know what Kanyoth wants even more than to reverse death? To be FREE. They've been trying to get out of this stupid egg that confines them, traps them for so long. Sevendays. Surely you've seen them moving throughout the entire Touching, slowly knocking down the stupid sand wall that has been put up around them to keep them in place. They tried hatching before the earthquake. They tried hatching during the earthquake so they could escape the hatching cavern. And do you know where all of that has gotten them so far? ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE. So, do you want to prove that you're right? That if you want something badly enough, it will happen? You help Kanyoth get out of this egg right now. You heard them. You move away the rest of this sand encasement, you punch or kick this shell - yes, Kanyoth is giving you permission! Whatever it takes! You help get Kanyoth out of here, and Kanyoth will believe you, that if you want strongly enough it will be so. Because you want to be right about that, right? Right?
