The Desert egg is beautiful, like a pearl, hidden in the sands. A lovely soft grey, with sky blue marbling on top, with a startling dark brown crack-like marking, running along it's bottom half. If one were to run their hands over the egg, they would note that the "crack" is actually rather smooth, and looking closely, isn't just brown, but has a subtle play of colors hidden within it's depths, like a vein of black opal hidden in white desert sands. The top half of the egg is, surprisingly, very slightly rippled, with a texture like the sand it sits upon.
Thankfully, Azimuth's egg was mostly unharmed by the earthquake, being both fairly close to Gwillanth and having a fairly thick shell. The only visible signs of the ordeal are the delicate scratches from moving sand all over the egg
The Desert egg is, first and foremost, quiet.
Introverted, but very curious about the people around her, while she may not talk, she sure does listen. Eavesdropping is a unfortunate habit, although if you ask her she will insist that its People-watching NOT eavesdropping
Passion is her driving force; Logic the method she uses to achieve it; this can make her seem snappy, or angry, but its not necessarily what she's actually feeling.
Azimuth is very precise and formal in her speech, as she hates the idea of being misinterpreted.
As soon as she hatches, Desert will be attempting to escape the Weyr. As an adult, she will probably spend as much time as a watch or sweep dragon as she can.
The Earthquake has changed how Azimuth sees the earth beneath her, for better and for worse. For one, she will find herself claustrophobic in the caverns and caves of Dunespike, and will never be able to visit the Hatching Cavern without panic again. On the other, it's caused her to look more closely about what sort of things people do outside of their caves, and Azimuth will eventually discover a love of plants and gardening.
She's also found herself kinder, softer. The Earthquake made her realize how much a dragon needed a community, and the kindness and understanding of others
Before the earthquake, Azimuth's voice is a current, is the wind, is the constancy of movement
Invisible, but always felt.
Sometimes silent, sometimes howling.
Her voice winds it's way in, fluttery and sharp, and dissipates as quickly as it comes.
Irritation is carried like grains of sand, fear a sudden drop in pressure.
However after the earthquake, her voice takes on a different quality, more like moonlight. While her voice still conveys a sense of movement; it's now a dance of shadows, of flames flickering under silver light. smoke drifting in a gentle breeze.
Azimuth hasn't ever really thought about rank very hard, but is quite sure that she doesn't want to be in charge of taking care of anyone but herself. She's happy being a member of the group, but leading? That scares her.
Oddly enough, she hasn't ever thought about gender very hard either. At first, she imply used she/her pronouns because that was what Gwillanth used, and by the time she was aware enough to notice other dragons who used other pronouns, she was too stubborn to change
Visitors to her egg won't get much from her if they aren't willing to sit and wait a bit, but anyone who watches the desert egg for long enough will eventually feel Azimuth watching them back
Whether this is disturbing or interesting will depend on the person.
