One of the one good things that had come of tragedy was this.
There were more dragons around, more conversations to listen too, a chance for Challeanoth to get the pulse of the weyr even before they left their egg. And perhaps, a little, because they liked the company. Don't get them wrong, they love their clutchmates, but for the most part, what happens to one is happening to all of them, so they don't exactly need to be kept up to date on it.
But conversations like this were interesting.
Or at least it started out interesting. Discussions of how things were going and about how they were being run. It just had to be ruined by color things.
Meh, color things.
Challeanoth was less convinced that it would be such a bad thing for mother to be with her blue, or for Igith to have their green, but that wasn't up to them. They couldn't even argue in favor for the idea, anything they tried to say went unheard by those outside of the shells. Probably for the best. They were probably lacking some sort of context which would explain exactly why bronzes were the best choice for the golds to be caught by.
They do feel sorry for the golds, for not getting to chose, and while they would do everything in their power to be supportive, if in the future they were ever in the situation of being weyrleader, but they weren't sure if they even wanted to be in that position. It sounded like a lot of responsibility, with a weyr depending on you, and that...that was terrifying.
She wasn't sure how the Golds did it.
And she was very glad that she didn't feel like she was gold.
