Mother's absence is barely noticed by Neath in favour of doing its absolute best to nose into the minds of whatever green dragons are nearby. It isn't great at telling the difference yet, but once it finds them them it becomes reluctant to ease back out. What is it like, being green? Is it as good as Neath thinks it would be? Do they like being green? Why had it not met or heard much of greens before being rescued?
At least one of them is irritated with Igith, and Neath blindly echoes this feeling. What is she rambling about? Does it have to be now? Can't she talk about this later? She's making its job harder and more tiring, and it doesn't need that right now! It wriggles with frustration and feels the odd place where the soft shell of its egg has stuck to it somewhere.
Barking orders. Valyth isn't quite a new name, but it isn't a familiar one either. Bronze, it thinks, but not Father. Not that it thinks much of him either, but the idea of being ordered around is enough to irritate it further. Everything is annoying right now - too many dragons! Leave it alone with its greens so it can figure out how to be like them! It doesn't feel like itself with so many strange dragon minds in such close proximity. Not understanding what they're talking about only maddens it further - what is the Flight, and why is such emphasis placed on it? Why can't it be about love? Is that why Mother and Pertemarth are looked down upon? If Issrodeth really did get to choose the Weyrleader, why would she choose someone bossy? Why did she have to make them feel special about it?
Neath wouldn't be making anybody who was bossy feel any kind of special. It turns its mind away from the golds and tries to focus on the greens again. They don't seem worried about trying to make anybody feel special, or putting somebody bossy in charge, or anything else like that. If anyone tried to make Neath worry about such stupid things, they'd be sorry!
