2024-07-06 - A Thought on Leadership

There was no doubt in Tasted Fire’s mind that it would not be one to catch a gold. Its shell was too small. Its mind was not of that set. In fact, it didn’t know whether it would prefer to Chase or Rise more, and its mind was set on that matter. Why not do both?

Tasted Fire listened to the two golds’ conversation, unashamed at eavesdropping. It did not care for the gold’s ill wishes toward other dragons and their riders; one spoke of the Flight as the spectacle, the choice made to make the ones who caught the golds special. The entire ordeal made Tasted Fire’s stomach spoil, though it had never eaten.

How fickle the golds sounded!

It resolved to never make whoever chased it feel that way, and it resolved to never chase those who would even try that on them. It grew upset and heated at the thought of being exploited like that! Perhaps it had latched onto something so trivial as flight, blocking out everything else the dragons said, but this was important to it.

It sat and stewed for a long while after the conversation, but there was no question about its stance on the ideas the golds gave it.
