Whatever the equivalent of wide-eyed staring is for telepathic perception, that is what Kanyoth was doing as Jemeer and the apprentice lugged their heavy instrument across the sand. They kept waiting for the point where The Mother would say something to these humans, but when she did, it wasn't to snap at them and shoo them away. She welcomed them. Had she asked for them to be here? Or Shayled, the currently more mobile of that human-dragon pair, on her behalf?

The humans then proceeded to make some lovely noises come out of their instruments, and then Kanyoth had an idea of why Gwillanth welcomed them. The gold herself was happily humming along. Kanyoth was inspired to start humming as well, but that just made the grossness they were stuck with in here reverberate around them, so they promptly stopped. Yuck. Listening to the music was still a pleasant experience, though.

Eventually, Jemeer started up a more lively jig, and Kanyoth found themself swaying along to the music, which of course caused their egg to rock back and forth. They could sense The Mother eyeing them, but for once the movement wasn't the precursor to another escape attempt. Kanyoth was having too much fun listening and moving to the music, they didn't want The Mother's fussing over them to cause it to stop! They didn't know of dancing, but that was effectively what they were doing. Whether Jemeer, the harper apprentice accompanying him, or any other person on Pern had ever seen a dancing egg, who knows, but it was probably a remarkable sight to see if anybody noticed what the Layers of Time in a Canyon Wall Egg was doing.
