2024-06-25 - The Favourite Returns!

Neath, much like Mother, had been waiting eagerly for Pertemarth's return, though for mostly different reasons. They want, above all, for Mother to be happy. They also want to examine once more what it means to be blue, at least by their understanding, and he is the only source of information they have. His presence brings warmth and joy, seems to amuse Mother at times, relaxes her always. The other golds don't do this for her and nor does bronze Father. It wonders once more what makes this relationship improper. Is Mother supposed to have Father as her favourite? Is she not supposed to have a favourite at all? It turns its attention back to them for a moment.

They seem happy. Relaxed, content - he has been back for a while, it thinks, long enough that Mother is asleep. Her dreams are pleasant, her sleep easy. Pertemarth, too, feels as if he is pleased. His presence certainly isn't distressing it nor, it assumes, any of its others. Is she not supposed to want him there because he can leave? She, too, can leave - it's known that for a while now. What is it?

More importantly, what could possibly be so much more powerful than Mother that she worries about its opinion?
