It was a surprise to them when they realized Mother was using words. Words as a concept for concrete concepts was in fact an interesting concept to have words for. Omen picked up on words quickly, words were much more efficient than sound. They liked listening to mother. Everything mother said was interesting, even and perhaps especially when she wasn't speaking to them. She used the small, loving words with them. She used the big words with others, big words that they had to chew on and consider what they might mean, given what else mother was talking about. When Mother wasn't talking to them, they would bounce the words to themselves to see if they felt any different. Words were fun. Omen liked words.

Any time mother spoke to them with the loving words, Omen would speak back to mother, but mother never seemed to understand their words. This was frustrating. They loved mother and the loving words.

Omen's first and favorite word is "We", of course. For so many reasons. The mental sound. The feel. The inherent plurality. They enjoyed the way that they could talk about themselves with "We."

"We are given loving soft words by mother."
"We wait for mother's return."
