Fill

The idea of a 'sevenday' is the first to catch its attention. It has no conception of what 'seven' is, nor is it aware of 'days,' but it knows enough to guess that it must be a very long time. The other familiar presence, the one it grows increasingly fond of, isn't around anymore. This, it seems, is what it means to be away for a sevenday. Will its beloved others go away? Will it? What is there away from here? It stirs in the egg and turns its attention more completely to Mother when she thinks during this sad period of time for her.

It ponders what a 'lover' is. It thinks about what it means to be green or blue, compared to gold or whatever 'bronze' is - green and blue it has seen in Mother's dreams, and Mother herself, it knows, must be gold. Bronze is an unfamiliar idea, and it disregards it easily. Green and blue and gold... Is it one of those things? Which one? It reaches out to ask, but receives no answer - nobody knows, of course, not even Gwillanth. If nobody knows, how can it be so important? Why does it matter so much that the other half of Mother is blue and not whatever he is supposed to be? Frustration again. This isn't something it cares to think about. It extends lazy, relaxed comfort to Mother instead. Her 'lover' will be back in a sevenday, after all, however long that is.
