2024-06-16 - Whispers in the Wind

And like after a storm, the world blossoms, and Mirage understands.

What they are hearing, are words. Things that mean more than just feelings, that mean feelings, and Mirage can only listen. There is so much to learn about the world, and this can only help. They do not try to speak at first, listening when mother speaks to them, and then listened when she is speaking to others. They are interesting these words, and yet, they hesitate.

They taste the words like water, keeping them close as if they might run out, that this brief period of understanding might vanish, like mother often does.

But when they don't, when they realize that the words are still able to be understood, only then does Mirage speak. That they try to reach back out, to speak to mother as she speaks to them. A simple hello, but when mother doesn't seem to understand, Mirage retreats, pulling the words back close. They don't understand. Is it the words that are wrong, or them?
