The Sun is mother. Sun Mother. Mother-Sun!
She is near. She is far. Like waves washing against the beach she comes and goes. It is not so distressing, anymore. There is a sense of self now, solid ground to plant one’s feet on, a place to watch the wind and the rain and the light filter in from behind the clouds.
Mother-Sun is big. She has to be, for that is the only answer as to why her thoughts fill every inch of sky. Even when she is far away, when she goes Elsewhere-Not-Here, it is easy to feel her, or see her at least. You peek sometimes when she’s far away but not completely gone, waiting until the clouds part to catch a glimpse of stars or trailing Ribbon-Light.
In some ways it’s easier to understand her when she’s distant. When she is close the sea grows warm, the sand shifts in unknowable, esoteric patterns, veils of color and shafts of light break beneath and between the clouds - it’s all so much! But the patterns become clearer with time. The sand contains questions - Hot? Cold? How? The sea changes temperature with distance - when Mother is gone it is freezing, as if she takes all the heat away with her. The lights are the hardest to make sense of. The colors bend, flow, and shatter so easily. There are words there, but you can’t make them out. Things. Ideas. Wants. Does Mother want something from you?
You try to communicate with her in the same way - scratching the sand, darting in and out of the surf and seafoam, rolling until the clouds (and the whole world) spin in dizzying circles. But it’s never enough. There are too many things to do at once. Mother-Sun is bigger, vaster, then you feel you ever will be, but that’s okay. When you feel her come near you run - runrunrun and take the biggest LEAP you can, straight into the warm waters of her embrace.
HELLO!
