2024-06-13 - One Egg Is

It had already found being alone unsettling. In the cold-quiet of Mother’s absence it only had itself for company. It did not like the quiet and solitude. It wanted to be with, in a way that took over all other concerns. It wanted to see and be seen and not fade away.

It was a sleepy realization, as Mother flowed like the tide, what being left behind meant. It was separate from Mother. It was something all on it’s own, something that could be with Mother or without. It was, and Mother’s comings and goings did not change that. It persisted without being observed. It existed all of it’s own accord.

I am.

The growing inhabitant of the egg held tight to that thought as a talisman against fear.
