2024-06-12 - Reaching, in an Early Form

It has not stopped trying to speak since it discovered the other presences. It aches to know about them, and though it knows by now that they cannot be reached it still tries and tries and tries. This trying almost eclipses the realisation that something new is happening once more - they are not just faint. They are, in a way it is only now understanding, further away, much like Mother is when she leaves. Can they move, then? Is it alone in its inability to change things? They don't leave like she does, but their 'far-away-ness' does change from time to time, shifted around when Mother is nearby. These are the times when her affection is strongest, most directed. It realises that it, too, is moved about in much the same manner under the heat of her love, and that it ceases to shift in the same way when her attention leaves it.

This faintness from the others, could it be eased if it could get closer, it wonders? Could it reach them if it just changed where it was? If Mother could do it, surely, surely it could too. It twitches, stretches, and feels not much different. Perhaps it was not ready to change this just yet. Still, it continues to practice, just in case it learns to move sometime soon. It wants to be ready.

The sight of the egg shifting and bulging in a way dragon eggs usually don't do is probably a little alarming to onlookers. Even if it had a way to know this, it would not have cared. It will reach these strange, beloved others someday, and when that day comes it will be ready.
