Mother could... leave? Mother could leave and come back??? How awful! How unfair! The Child wanted to do that, be that! A thing that moved, that had will, rather than merely a thing that was acted upon. The child, wound around in the dark, trying to find a way to Become.

The Fact that wanting to Become, was, in it of itself, a sign that one had already achieved a state of Being, would only occur to the Child later.

In the meantime, the Child organized what little it knew. A Fact: Mother was warm. A Fact: Sometimes there was cold. Assumption: The cold was the absence of Mother. Assumption: this meant Mother could leave. A Fact: The Child could not leave. Conclusion: The Child was not Mother.
