The tide is gone. Everything it had known is gone. She is gone.

It does not yet know how to cry, and yet it does. Her frigid absence pierces it. Was this its new life? Was this shift permanent?

But no, she returns. Her tides wash over it, thawing the ice. Again, it cries.
